BLS Requirements
There is no entry exam and no prior qualification needed for a BLS course. It is designed for healthcare providers and students, but anyone who is able to kneel and perform chest compressions can take it and be certified.
In short
No prerequisites. Bring photo ID, register with the name on your passport or licence, finish HeartCode online work if you chose that route, and be ready to kneel on the floor for CPR practice.
BLS is the healthcare provider level of CPR. It suits nurses, doctors and dentists, paramedics, allied health staff and students. People outside healthcare can take it too, although the first aid course or Heartsaver CPR AED is often a better fit.
You will kneel beside a manikin and perform chest compressions for two minutes at a time. If you have an injury, pregnancy or condition that makes this difficult, tell us when you book so the instructor can plan with you. The skills test still requires you to demonstrate effective compressions.
Our BLS courses are taught in English. If you are worried about the written test, BLS practice questions are a good way to get used to the wording.
