Security First Aid
In malls, towers, hospitals and events, security officers are usually first to any emergency because they are already patrolling and have radios. A first aid course turns that head start into care.
In short
Security teams need fast recognition of cardiac arrest, confident CPR and AED use, bleeding control, and a clear handover to the ambulance. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is the usual course; CPR AED only suits posts focused on the AED.
Radio in, send someone for the AED, and start. Security teams are ideal first responders because they can coordinate — one officer treats, one clears space, one meets the ambulance.
Security often owns the building’s AEDs. Weekly checks of the status light, pad expiry and location signage are simple and prevent failures on the day. The CPR and AED steps are the same as on the Heartsaver CPR AED course.

Concerts and sports events bring fainting, dehydration and intoxication. Brief first aiders on the medical tent location and radio channel before doors open.
Many officers work alone at night. Carry a personal kit with gloves and a large dressing, know the fastest route to the AED on every floor, and agree with the control room exactly who will call 998 so that nobody assumes someone else already has.
Tell the paramedics what happened, what you saw, what you did and when. Writing times on your hand or a glove is an old trick that works.
