Construction Site First Aid
On a construction site the nearest hospital can be a long drive away and the injuries are rarely minor: falls from height, crushed hands, deep lacerations and, from May to October, heat illness. HSE managers therefore plan a first aid course for enough workers to cover every shift, crew and remote corner of the site.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation applies a midday break for outdoor work in the summer months. Even with the break, heat exhaustion is common late in the afternoon. Shade, water, rest cycles and supervisors trained to spot the early signs prevent most cases; first aiders deal with the rest.
Sites change weekly and often have no street address. Give every crew a written location with a map pin, and assign someone to meet the ambulance at the gate. It saves minutes.
Site kits need large trauma dressings, eye wash and a tourniquet, and should be in every welfare cabin and vehicle — see the first aid kit checklist. An AED at the main site office is increasingly common.
