HeartCode PALS
HeartCode PALS is the American Heart Association’s blended route to the PALS course. The paediatric cases are worked through online at your own pace; the infant and child skills, and the testing, happen in person with an instructor.
In short
Adaptive online paediatric cases + an in-person skills session (infant and child CPR, bag-mask, case practice and testing) = the same AHA PALS Provider eCard as classroom PALS. There is no fully online PALS card.
You manage simulated sick children: a toddler with stridor, an infant with bronchiolitis, a child in septic shock, an SVT. The course adapts, spending longer on the areas where your decisions are slower or less accurate. Finish it before your skills session and bring the completion certificate.
At our centre you practise and are tested on infant and child high-quality CPR and bag-mask ventilation with different mask sizes, and you run case scenarios. Dates are in the booking form above and on the HeartCode PALS course page.
If you rarely see sick children, classroom PALS gives more coached practice with the paediatric equipment and more time to get used to weight-based decisions.
HeartCode PALS still requires current BLS; HeartCode BLS works the same way if both are due.
Work through the cases when you can concentrate, not at the end of a night shift. Say your assessment out loud as you go — the same habit is what instructors look for in the skills session. Note any dose or rhythm decision you hesitated over and look it up in PALS drugs or the tachycardia guide before you attend.
