Classroom PALS
Classroom PALS teaches the paediatric cases face to face, with an instructor coaching you through each one on infant and child manikins. Course details and dates are on the classroom PALS course page; this guide explains what the classroom version of the PALS course is like.

Infant and child manikins, bag-mask devices and masks in several sizes, airway adjuncts, an intraosseous trainer, a rhythm simulator and a length-based weight tape. Getting familiar with the range of sizes is one of the main benefits of the classroom course — see IO access and weight-based dosing.
Each case starts with a child who needs assessing. You practise the systematic approach, categorise the problem and treat it, first as a team member and later as the leader. The instructor pauses to debrief what went well and what slowed the team.

Paediatric resuscitation often happens with parents present. The classroom course discusses how teams communicate with families during and after an emergency, one of the aspects of PALS that has no real equivalent in adult courses.
